On January 6, Mustafa was lured to Armaghan’s house, where he was subjected to three hours of relentless torture. Once incapacitated, he was placed inside his Honda Civic and driven towards Hub Chowki, Balochistan—a journey spanning multiple police checkposts.

Upon reaching an isolated location near the Hub checkpost, the perpetrators set the vehicle ablaze with Mustafa inside, ensuring that any evidence of the crime was destroyed.

Police Negligence: A Breakdown in Law Enforcement

This case highlighted glaring failures in inter-provincial police coordination:

• Failure to Monitor Checkposts: Despite traveling from Karachi to Hub, covering a significant distance with multiple checkposts, Mustafa’s vehicle was never stopped or questioned.
• Hub Police’s Lack of Action: On January 11, the Hub police discovered a burnt vehicle containing a charred body. However, instead of notifying Karachi police, they treated it as an unclaimed case and arranged for the burial of the remains in an Edhi graveyard in Moach Goth.
• Delayed Response from Karachi Police: Even after Mustafa’s family reported him missing, Karachi police failed to link the missing person case with the burnt car found in Hub, losing crucial time.

Following public outcry and pressure from the media, Karachi police finally connected the dots and reopened the case.

As the investigation progressed, authorities detained Armaghan, who eventually confessed to the crime, revealing the horrific details of Mustafa’s murder. His accomplice, Shiraz, was also taken into custody.
